Half of Redwood's area is the 2,243-hectare Redwood Park, after which the locality was named in 1981; most of the rest, south of the highway, is crown land. The land falls from about 650 metres on the ridge to about 360 metres at the eastern boundary with Withcott, and the Warrego Highway passes through on the Old Tollbar Road and the Toowoomba Connection Road.
